Here at Wellburn, and across our 14 homes, we celebrate diversity. Our residents are a lovely blend of different backgrounds and cultures. We caught up with some of them to give you a glimpse of life at some of our homes, from their perspective.
"I've been a resident at Grimston now for over 9 years, and I can't speak highly of the home. I absolutely love living here. The staff are wonderful.
A typical day for me would start with breakfast in the dining room, then I'll normally retire to the lounge for a relax and of course, my usual cup of milky coffee. I always make an effort to join in with all of the activities on offer and especially like the moments when we all just chat and listen to music.
I don’t have anyone to visit me. The staff know this and I think they possibly try and make up for it, which I appreciate so much. They'll often go out of their way to chat to me, and invite me to stretch my legs with a nice walk through the gardens.
It seems so long ago now, but when I first considered a Care Home, I had no idea life would be so enjoyable. Every day something is going on and it's lovely to feel part of it."
"I suppose I'm regarded as a fairly new resident. I've only been a resident at Riverhead Hall less than a year. Long enough to know that I love it here.
The service I receive is second to none. I get up for breakfast and then enjoy a good read through the morning papers. I'll often sit and chat to other residents or to the staff, before wandering into the garden for a bit of fresh air.
I've always been very active, so after lunch, I often like to go for a stroll around town. Having the freedom to come and go is really important to me and getting out is essential. Once back I'll take dinner and then get involved with any activities that are going on. I'll then retire for the evening and watch a little bit of TV in my room, before bedtime. Life here really does tick all of my boxes and the staff have made me feel very welcome."
"I've been a resident at Glenholme for almost a year now. Thanks to the staff and residents, I've settled in really well. In fact, I now call it my home. Before I came here, I struggled a lot with confidence, but thanks to all the help of the staff, I really feel like it's returning back to something like normal.
I love the variety of activities on offer here and try to take part in as many as I can. In fact, my overall experience of living here is brilliant. I love living here and appreciate so much, the peace of mind it brings my 3 sons, knowing that I am looked after so well and that I'm safe and happy."
"I became a resident at Rosevale, in March 2016. I love living here and adore the staff. I feel extremely lucky to have also made some really good friends in the short space of time I've been here. It made such a big difference to feel so welcomed by everyone.
My son and granddaughter visit me through the week and it's lovely to see them feeling happier that I'm now being looked after so well. We all take comfort in each others happiness and this new way of living has been so beneficial for all of us.
I look forward to visiting the in-house hairdresser on Monday's, and especially look forward to our Thursday day trips out and about. Life is sweet and I couldn't feel more comfortable and happier."
"I've been a resident at Wellburn House now for almost 4 years, and I've enjoyed every minute of life here.
Some of the highlights of the week for me, are when visitors come to see me. Even though they're coming to a home, staff and other residents are extremely respectful and we always manage to enjoy quality time together. Or our day trips too. I love them. We always manage to get out and about to some wonderful places. It's always such a thrill to get in the mini bus and go exploring.
I love the buzz around the place during the morning breakfast routine in the dining room. It's so lively and chatty. It starts the day of on the right foot. Mealtimes are always very sociable and the food is delicious too.
I adore being here, around like minded people and every day is a joy."
