ST GEORGE'S DAY

Saint George’s Day is the feast day of Saint George which is celebrated on the 23rd April every year.  The traditional custom was to celebrate Saint George’s Day by wearing a red rose in your lapel.  Nowadays we adorn the Cross flag, Morris dancing and serving traditional English food.  We asked St Catherine’s how they celebrated Saint George’s Day by having an arts and crafts day where our residents created flags improvising with straws and coloured paper and decorated the home all in flags.  We also baked a sponge cake and iced it with fondant icing making a white base with a red cross.
