At Wellburn Care Homes we acknowledge that much of our success is due to the quality of personnel we employ. We have invested much time and resources in developing a strong team in order to give our clients the best level of care. We are particularly proud to say that a number of our long serving staff have been able to develop their careers within the organisation.
I joined Wellburn Care Homes Ltd working as a care assistant at Eighton Lodge at the age of 22. I was made to feel very welcome and I was impressed by the training that I received from day one. After being a care assistant for a year I was promoted to team leader.
I particularly enjoyed more interaction with our residents families and working alongside care professionals such as doctors and district nurses. After two years in the team leader role, it felt a natural progression to take on the role of deputy manager when the position became available. In this role I became more involved in the day to day running in the management of the home. After two years I was able to further my career when the position of Home manager became available with Dorothy’s promotion to area manager, I was encouraged to apply for the post, and subsequently was promoted to manager of Eighton Lodge in the Summer of 2000.
As manager I enjoyed ensuring that each and every resident at Eighton Lodge had the best quality of life. After five years I was promoted to Area manager where I am now responsible for supporting four homes and a day centre.
I have felt very valued as a member of the Wellburn Care Homes team.
I joined Wellburn Care Homes Ltd, part time as a senior care assistant at Whorlton Grange in Westerhope. I enjoyed working with our residents and other members of the care team. After a year I was promoted to Deputy Manager I relished the extra responsibility. After two years I was asked if I would like to be relocated to Wellburn Care Homes Ltd recent acquisition Eighton Lodge as Deputy Manager, supporting the manager implementing WCH’s care practises. After two years I was promoted to the position of Manager of Eighton Lodge.
In this position I enjoyed ensuring that the home was maintained to the high levels of care standards and that the environment was a true ‘home’ for the residents, after four years I was promoted to Senior Manager, I retained the position of Manager at Eighton Lodge and supported the manager of recently acquired Glenholm.
I am now an area manager for WCH and support six managers ensuring that care standards are maintained and that all aspects of home are to the high standards that we expect. I have enjoyed my time working with Wellburn so much, that I cannot believe I have been a member of the team for 18 yrs.
