30 DAY ROAD TRIP THIS WEEK

On day 16 of our 30 Day Road, we had a great exercise session with Laurna from Oomph Wellness with a 1980’s theme and enjoyed getting up and involved with gentle exercises with pom-poms.  On day 17 at St George’s, we collected donations of tin’s, packets and jars of food for Washington Food Bank and took them along to St George’s Church.  Whilst there, we enjoyed the morning Service and received Communion.  We then enjoyed a cuppa and a delicious slice of cake with new friends.  We would like to say a huge thank to everyone who kindly donated towards this amazing cause.

On day 18 we have been in Shipton by Beningbrough with Care Cent helping organise and sort food to feed the homeless community for the next year.  They are a dedicated and committed team of people and give a place to come and talk, helping to avoid loneliness and isolation.

We had such a lovely day at Lincoln Court Day Centre on day 19 with staff from St Catherine’s, where everyone made us feel so welcome and were very friendly.  We chatted to all the people about where they came from and about their family.  The ladies were asked to bring a photo in so Ian Donaghy could take a copy and use an app to put their photos in frames and print them off as part of reminiscence and getting to know everyone.  We then sung happy birthday to Pat, a lady from the Day Centre and enjoyed a delicious slice of cake and a cuppa.  After lunch, we entered a raffle draw and played a few games of bingo and to finish the day off nicely, we had a sing along with Ian whilst he played on his guitar.

Residents and staff from Rosevale have been to Age UK York’s Wednesday Club at Acomb Methodist Church on day 20 and a fabulous time doing fun activities and armchair exercises.  On day 21 we were at Age UK York St Laurence’s Church Day Club with Rosevale and Grimston Court.  It was amazing working with Age UK at all three of their different services this week.  It has been beautiful to see the impact of money from Forever Young Festival at Grimston Court has made.  We look forward to more collaboration and support with the charity in 2018.

Stay tuned to find out what we have done on day 22 with the fantastic team at Brunswick Organic Nursery…
