What people are
saying about us.

  • ‘Visiting Glenholme is a pleasure, the staff are cheerful and welcoming and there are activities for residents every morning and afternoon’

    R. K., daughter of a resident at Glenholme House

  • ‘Every time I go to visit I'm reminded of how fortunate we were to have been able to have Dad live there. Thank you all for taking such good care of my precious dad.’

Kate, daughter of a resident at Glenholme House

  • ‘Within forty-eight hours we saw a difference in Dad's appearance, personal hygiene, demeanour and this was purely down to the care, attention, stimulation, nutrition, hydration, support and a sense of belonging and being safe. In six months, Dad is so very happy. He loves all the activities and staff and only this week told me 'I have a lovely life'. Glenholme is a brilliant example of what good care can achieve.’

An average week at

With our dedicated Lifestyle Coordinator and jam-packed activities schedule, no two days are the same here at Glenholme House! Discover what an average week at our home looks like:

Monday.

We’re starting our week off with plenty of puppy love! Animal cuddles are good for our bodies, hearts, and minds, and spending time with our furry friends is guaranteed to put a smile on our faces. We love having a dog-friendly home, and look forward to regular visits from our cherished canine companions. Animal-assisted therapy has been scientifically proven to deliver a whole host of benefits to our mental and physical wellbeing, which is why St George’s opens its doors to all creatures great and small.

Tuesday.

Today, we were sommeliers for the evening - putting on our best French accents as we sampled a selection of cheese and wines. There’s nothing quite like indulging in some really yummy food, and we’re very lucky to have such a brilliant team of kitchen staff who truly cater to our every fancy. Every meal is nutritionally balanced and created with our needs (and wants!) in mind, helping to make sure that we can be the best and healthiest versions of ourselves. Of course, balance is so important when it comes to food and drink, so we definitely make sure to treat ourselves, too!

Wednesday.

All aboard! Today, the wheels on our bus took us to the sunny seaside, where we enjoyed a walk along the shore. The beach looked beautiful in the sunshine - there wasn't a cloud in the sky! Being active is so important for our physical health, and spending time in nature is a natural mood-booster, so we all really love hopping on board our minibus for an adventure out and about. Of course, no trip to the coast would be complete without an ice cream, so we treated ourselves to a scoop or two - oh, we do like to be beside the seaside!

Thursday.

We’re an artistic bunch here at St George’s, and today we let our imaginations run wild with some arts and crafts. Painting, drawing, decorating, baking and crafting are all fantastic outlets for our creativity, and offer huge benefits to our overall wellbeing by keeping our minds stimulated and active. They can help to improve our hand-eye coordination, and are a wonderful way to wind down after a busy few days of being social butterflies! Arts and crafts is definitely one of our favourite hobbies, and it’s always fun to see everyone’s creativity at play. Pablo Picasso, eat your heart out!

Friday.

We’ve well and truly got that ‘Friday feeling’ today, because we enjoyed a fantastic afternoon of music therapy with one of our favourite entertainers! We clapped our hands and tapped our toes, and some of us even took to the floor to show off our best dance moves! Music really is good for the soul - studies have shown that it helps to support our cognitive function and mental wellbeing. Our activities schedule always features visits from singers, dancers and performers, and they really are a fan-favourite here at St George’s… any excuse for us to bust a move and sing our hearts out!

The weekend.

Wow, what a week we’ve had! Weekends are for winding down and spending time with loved ones, and this weekend we did just that. Of course, our families and friends are welcome to pop by whenever they like, and we especially love it when they join in with our activities and day trips. After plenty of love and laughter, we treated ourselves to some much-needed pampering as we enjoyed our regular visit from the hairdresser, as well as enjoying an in-house manicure, massage and aromatherapy. A bit of ‘me-time’ is the perfect weekend wind-down.
